Kandji empowers the Device Harmony platform with industry-leading innovations to keep enterprise Apple users safe and productive

SAN DIEGO, 08 Dec. 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Kanji, the next-generation leader in device management and security, today announced new innovations to empower technology and security teams through the Device Harmony platform. The latest release of Kandji streamlines device management workflows and delivers critical security and user experience enhancements to strengthen the overall management and security posture of the Apple-led organization, while empowering IT and InfoSec teams to work together seamlessly to keep Apple users safe and productive across the enterprise.

“According to Apple, there are nearly 2 billion active Apple devices worldwide, up from 1.5 billion the previous year. As consumers continue to choose Apple more and more for the use of their personal devices, the demand for the same delightful Apple experience in a professional setting also increases. So it’s no surprise that we continue to see an impressive upward trajectory of Apple devices in the enterprise,” said Adam Pettit, Founder and CEO of Kandji. “Organizations today need strong device management capabilities that still provide a streamlined and helpful experience for Apple users and administrators. With this new release, we are excited to deliver a comprehensive set of solutions that will enable IT and InfoSec teams to easily manage and secure all areas of the Apple environment.

The new features announced today support a robust set of device management, security, and user experience requirements, greatly expanding what can be managed for Apple’s enterprise endpoint. Recently released enhancements include:

New device management workflow capabilities:

  • Apply configurations faster and receive real-time data from devices with Declarative Device Management (DDM): An industry first for active management on supervised devices, this update changes password policies for iOS and iPadOS to be enforced using configuration statements instead of a profile legacy configuration. Kandji will continue to integrate declarative management as Apple moves from configuration profiles to modern configuration declarations.
  • Track lost iPhone and iPad devices with Lost Mode: Kandji customers can immediately track lost iPhone and iPad devices, without requiring iCloud, location services or any action by the device user. Kandji’s Lost Mode overlays additional automations on top of the Lost Mode functionality provided by the Apple MDM framework. It allows device management professionals to secure corporate data and find lost devices by alerting the administrator if the device moves more than 50 meters and automatically enabling Lost Mode in the event of a reset . A host of other features make this feature a must-have for organizations using iPhone and iPad devices.
  • Advanced flexibility for administrators with user attributes in assignment rules: Kandji now offers a high level of flexibility when it comes to refining the logic of Blueprints. Admins can now use departments, user groups, or job title attributes, as defined with their identity provider, to determine whether the Blueprint should deploy a given library item to a specific device. This allows a single blueprint to scale to the needs of users within an organization, reducing the number of blueprints that need to be maintained.

New device security enhancements:

  • Drive Zero-Trust with Okta Device Trust integration: Built on top of Okta Identity Engine, this integration will ensure that only managed devices can access Okta-secured apps. The Kandji integration will also power other Okta products, such as its passwordless authentication via FastPass.
  • Streamline Mac login security with Kandji Passport’s Google Workspace support: Passport now supports Google Workspace as an identity provider (IdP) and allows the use of Google Workspace credentials to log in to Mac computers.

Improved device management user experience:

  • Useful links to resources for end users with bookmarks: Organizations can provide users with links to resources through bookmarks in the Kandj Self Service app. This extends the Self Service app to become the one place Mac, iPhone, and iPad users access all of the resources provided to them by their IT team, including useful apps, scripts, and links.
  • Additions to the Kandji menu bar app: New additions include a module to login to self-service, a button to update all apps, organized prompts that provide a clear picture of required actions, and a new button that allows users to fix any software that needs One-click updates.
  • Fault-tolerant operating system updates and upgrades through the managed operating system: The next generation of Managed OS for Mac includes a complete rewrite of its architecture, designed to take full advantage of Apple’s MDM framework and Kandji’s new real-time communication platform between Kandji agent and server. New user-initiated update prompts will also help in extreme cases where the Mac cannot successfully update via MDM commands. This enables faster, error-tolerant OS updates and upgrades.

About Kanji
Kandji, the Device Harmony platform for Apple devices in the enterprise, breaks down the wall between IT teams and InfoSec to keep Apple users safe and productive. In the past, these teams carried out their mandates independently. InfoSec handled security, while IT handled user devices. But in a world where user security and productivity are C-level priorities, they need shared intelligence, automation, and workflow to win.

Kandji’s Device Harmony platform deeply connects IT and InfoSec capabilities that were previously split across five different product categories: Device Management, Vulnerability Management, Endpoint Detection and Response, Endpoint Visibility, and Endpoint Compliance . Kandji connects these capabilities with shared intelligence, automation, and workflows designed for the cross-functional way these teams now work.
