A 10-year-old boy is facing a charge of reckless homicide as an adult for allegedly shooting and killing his mother. A neighbor spoke to WISN 12 News’ Kristin Pierce about what he heard and saw on the morning of November 21. “The only thing I heard was the screams,” said a neighbor who did not want to be identified. “I really didn’t expect it this early in the morning. I thought they were arguing or something, but the screams, you could feel them.” Milwaukee police said the shooting happened near 87th and Hemlock streets. According to the criminal complaint, Quiana Mann’s 10-year-old son shot her in the face at close range, killing her. The boy said his mother would not allow him to have something from Amazon that he wanted to have. He also admitted to being “angry with her for waking him up at 6 a.m. when he usually sleeps until 6:30 a.m.” The complaint goes on to say that the day after the boy was accused of killing his mother, he went to his Amazon account. and ordered a virtual reality headset. He also reportedly apologized for the shooting, saying, “I’m sorry I killed my mother.” He then asked if his Amazon package had arrived. The boy, who 12 News is not identifying due to his age, is charged as an adult with first-degree reckless homicide. If found guilty, he faces 60 years in prison. “You don’t want something like this to happen to anyone,” the neighbor said. “She’s a really nice woman, from what I could tell you, she’s really nice and a nice woman.” His last image of her was ingrained in his head. “When I looked out the window, I saw the police and fire brigade were outside,” he said. “It lasted a few hours and the last thing I saw was them taking his body out. It was really difficult and heartbreaking to see someone who lives in your neighborhood and to know that something unfortunate thing happened. It really breaks your heart.” A GoFundMe describes Mann as a mother of four who was compassionate, loving, and kind with a smile that could light up a room. Mann’s funeral is scheduled for Friday, December 2. Fundraiser by Rhonda Reid: Quiana’s Homegoing (gofundme.com) The boy’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 7 at 3 p.m.
